Clare Blake takes us through just some or Cornwall's potteries, including Carn Pottery, Tremaen Pottery and Tremar Pottery.

'Travelling around the beautiful county of Cornwall, it is surprising how often you stumble across potteries in out of the way corners, in sheltered coves, down narrow winding lanes, or braving the elements on bleak headlands. Its almost as though the studio pottery is an organic part of the Cornish landscape, and certainly potters who live and work there feel that the stimulating surroundings play an essential role in the creative process...'

Geoffrey Palin gives us a brief history of Donyatt Pottery.

'Donyatt, a small village located on the outskirts of Ilminster in Somerset, provides today's visitors with very few clues to its ceramic heritage, except perhaps the evocatively names 'Crock Street'. Born on September 1874, the son of Francis Collard, poulterer, and his wife Elizabeth. At the age of 12 he was apprenticed to the Aller Vale pottery at Kingerswell, near Newton Abbot, and thus began nearly 70 years of potting...'

Born in 1770 and by the age of 30, George Fishley had established his own pottery at muddlebridge...'
